Terms & Conditions of Hire


All quotes are valid for 14 days


A 50% deposit, transferred electronically (see Payment Methods below) is required to confirm your booking and reserve the stock for your date.

Booking Confirmation

Bookings are confirmed once the 50% booking deposit has been received for the requested date. We do get a lot of enquiries especially over busy periods so please check with us that your requested pieces are still available for your event date before paying the deposit. By paying the deposit you agree to the Terms and Conditions of Hire.


30 days or more written notice: full deposit refunded.

15 – 30 days written notice: 50% of deposit refunded.

7 – 14 days written notice: 25% of deposit refunded.

Less than 7 days notice: No refund available.

Balance Payment

The balance payment is due prior to delivery/collection of hire pieces. This can be in cash, EFT, or credit card. Please note if you are transferring the balance via electronic payment it must be cleared prior to collection (this may take up to 3 days).

Payment Methods

Online Transfer – (Account Details are provided on the quote)

Credit Card – Credit card payments online, please request an electronic invoice. Credit card payments will incur a 3.5% transaction fee.

Hire Period

The standard hire period is 3 days, if you need the items for longer than this please contact us, otherwise an additional fee may apply.

Delivery & Collection

A Vintage Affair can deliver and collect the pieces for you, just let us know the location and we can include this in the quote for you. You are also welcome to collect the pieces from us.


The hire pieces are very fragile so will need to be hand washed in warm soapy water (plates need to be washed not wiped down) and repacked in the packaging provided. Vintage pieces are very fragile so no dishwashers please!! If you are unable to hand wash the pieces we are happy to do this for you, which is charged at 20% of the booking fee. You can simply just rewrap the pieces dirty (but tip out the tea please!!) and return them to us.


Credit card details are taken as security against damage and breakages. Credit card will be charged for replacement of any damages. Alternatively you can leave a security bond of $200 for bookings up to $500 or 30% of total booking fee for bookings over $500.

Hire items must be returned in the same manner and condition as they were provided. The bond will be refunded within 3 days of return of the stock, less any charges incurred for missing, broken or damaged items. Chipped glassware or crockery will be charged as broken. If the replacement amount exceeds the security deposit, the hirer is liable to pay the additional charges.


All goods hired and are the responsibility of the hirer from the time of delivery/collection until they are returned to A Vintage Affair. Any losses, damage or breakages will be charged to the hirer. The Hirer shall protect the equipment during the time of delivery, use, storage or waiting period before pick-up.

Any person signing the documents for and on behalf of the Hirer hereby covenants with the Owner that he/she has the authority of the Hirer to make this agreement on the Hirer’s behalf and is empowered by the Hirer to bind the Hirer to this agreement.

Damage Waiver

Damage waiver is payable by the hirer to cover costs associated with normal wear and tear to the equipment hired, the waiver does not cover any other damage including breakages, chips or loss.

Replacement Schedule

Breakages are not very common but sometimes accidents do happen. The replacement cost of any damaged or breakage to hired items will be charged to the client.

Unfortunately any breakage to a tea trio (cup, saucer or cake plate) means that the trio can no longer be used as a set so the whole trio must be replaced. If an item is not listed below it is generally charged at 10 times the hire price.
